Nathan Keats, President and Publisher of Keats Publishing, Inc., died February 3,1995. His wife, An Keats, preceded him in 1989. Both were pioneers in publishing a large variety of books dealing with the latest advances in orthomolecular medicine, in clinical ecology, and in nutrition. Their books provided one of the main literature bases for this new field in medicine. Almost every pioneer in the new medicine is represented among their stable of authors. Many of the more than 600 books that Keats has published have been reviewed in this journal over the past 20 years, and most of the books reviewed occupy a prominent place in my personal library.

I have lost a friend and colleague, but I will have the satisfaction of knowing the company Nathan and An founded and operated for so long will continue to publish the books which any rapidly developing field must have.

The Keats books were most helpful in changing the old and no longer useful vitamin-as-prevention paradigm, to the modern vitamin-as-trealment paradigm which is sweeping into world mainstream medicine, and at last into the medical schools of North America.

A. Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D.
